Messe München is in Riem in the east of the city, right on the A94 motorway, on the site of the former Munich-Riem airport. Since the move in 1998 the grounds have had 18 ground-level halls in three rows: A1 to A6, B0 to B6 and C1 to C6. The ICM, the International Congress Center Munich, and the Conference Center Nord, used together with Hall C6, are part of the same site. For a shoot day that means one thing above all: distances are long. Moving between a stand in the A row, a panel in the ICM and a partner stand in the C row eats booked time in the aisles unless the day is planned.
So every Munich booking starts with three details: hall, stand number and the entrance closest to your stand (booth). Visitors come in through Entrance West, Entrance East or the North entrances. The U2 underground stops at Messestadt West and Messestadt Ost, right at Entrance West and Entrance East; Messe München gives just under 20 minutes from the central station without a change. We pick station and entrance by your hall, so the walk with camera cases stays short. More on the grounds is on our Messe München venue page.
If you have several appointments, your day gets fixed blocks: the stand in the morning, for example, a talk in the ICM in the early afternoon, then interviews back on the stand. Our crew enters on exhibitor passes you assign to us; during visitor opening hours Messe München also accepts day tickets or visitor vouchers. Cameras, lenses, gimbal, lavalier microphones and LED lights fit into rolling cases, and on a normal show day we need no vehicle pass.
Many exhibitors in Munich fly in for a single week. From Munich Airport the S1 and S8 run into the city, and for selected shows a shuttle runs straight to the grounds. Our travel from Essen is quoted once per trip and shared between exhibitors of the same show week. Munich often runs two shows side by side, such as electronica and SEMICON Europa, so several exhibitors can share the same trip in one week.
All halls in Riem are column-free, with clear heights between 11 and 16 metres, and large glazed areas let daylight in. In the morning that makes stands look open and natural. But the colour of the light shifts during the day and mixes with your stand lighting. We reset white balance for every shooting block and match all images to each other in the edit. For products where colour matters, we add our own LED light, so an exhibit looks the same at 9 am and at 4 pm.
Munich has one clear planning advantage. According to the Messe München information sheet, exhibitors and crews they commission may photograph and film on their own stand area during exhibitor opening hours without a separate permit, as long as the work does not spill into the aisles or block visitor flow. Shooting is also allowed during the official build-up and dismantling times, when even the aisles may be used as long as nobody is obstructed. That makes the build-up day the best window for the empty stand in daylight, shot from a distance across the aisle with no visitors in frame.
Night closing hours are different. Then a permit from the Security Center near Gate 1 is needed, which is open around the clock and issues permits in person only. A commissioned photographer shows a written order from the exhibitor, a flat fee is charged per exhibitor or order, and an escort guard is mandatory. We plan the day so you do not need this. If you still want shots after closing, we explain the effort and the procedure beforehand.
Two limits always apply. Only your own stand and your own exhibits may be recorded; other stands are neither entered nor photographed. And drones are banned on the whole site, in the halls and outdoors. For overviews of a large outdoor stand we work from raised positions on your own area. The exhibitor is the data controller for the recordings; we ask recognisable visitors before we shoot.
Few grounds host shows as different as Riem, and each one needs its own shot list. EXPO REAL in October is a property and investment show: meetings, panels and the stand as a meeting point matter more than products. We photograph conversations, speakers and full lounges and record statements from your management. At electronica and SEMICON Europa, 10 to 13 November 2026, the subjects are components and demos at close range, which means macro work, screens and hands on the product. productronica follows in November 2027.
At BAU, 11 to 15 January 2027, architecture and building materials fill large stands. Wide shots in daylight and material details carry the story there. opti at the end of January and INHORGENTA in February are the opposite: eyewear and jewellery need macro, our own light and controlled reflections, so frames and stones look clean.
From spring the shows turn mechanical. transport logistic with air cargo Europe (26 to 29 April 2027), Intersolar Europe with ees Europe in June, and automatica with LASER World of PHOTONICS (22 to 25 June 2027) show systems, vehicles and robots at work. Video takes a larger share there, because movement explains a product better than a still. IAA MOBILITY returns in September 2027.

No, as long as the work happens during exhibitor opening hours or the official build-up and dismantling times and stays on your stand area. That is what the Messe München information sheet says. Only during night closing hours is a permit from the Security Center at Gate 1 needed, issued in person, with a written order, a flat fee and an escort guard.
On exhibitor passes you assign to us. During visitor opening hours Messe München also accepts day tickets or visitor vouchers. We take the U2 to Messestadt West or Messestadt Ost, whichever entrance is closer to your hall.
Yes. Send us hall, stand number and the time of the talk, and we set fixed time blocks that include the walk across the grounds. With Professional (4 hours) or Full Day (8 hours), stand and talk fit well into one day.
Because the stand is empty, daylight comes in through the glazing, and Messe München allows filming during the official build-up times without a separate permit. The aisles may be used as long as nobody is obstructed. That gives wide overviews that are impossible once the show is running.
