Hamburg Messe sits on the edge of the Schanze district, right next to the Planten un Blomen park. Hamburg Messe und Congress (HMC) lists eleven halls with 87,000 square metres of exhibition space and 10,000 square metres outdoors. The grounds split into two areas: the A grounds with halls A1 to A4 and the B grounds with halls B1 to B7. The halls vary a lot in size, and ceilings reach up to 17 metres.
For the camera this matters. In one of the tall halls a stand (booth) can look small in a wide shot, while in a compact hall it can look cramped. We check your hall on the floor plan beforehand and decide where in the aisle the overview is taken and where we move in on graphics and exhibits. Under high ceilings the light comes from many sources at once, so we bring our own LED lights for portraits, products and interviews and keep skin tones and brand colours accurate.
The four entrances, Süd, Mitte, Ost and West (South, Centre, East and West), sit on different sides of the grounds. From Dammtor station the venue gives about eight minutes on foot via the Messeweg to Entrance East and about 20 minutes to Entrance Mitte. The U2 stops at Messehallen near the Mitte and Süd entrances, the S-Bahn at Sternschanze near Mitte and West. We set the meeting point by your hall, so we reach your stand before visitors are let in instead of crossing the whole site.
For exhibitors from abroad the location is an advantage: hotels, restaurants and client meetings in the city are close together. From Hamburg Airport take the S1 to Jungfernstieg and change to the U2 to Messehallen, and from Hamburg Central Station it is two minutes by S2 or S5 to Dammtor. Our kit fits into rolling cases, no delivery is needed.
The CCH, the Congress Center Hamburg, is a few minutes' walk away at Dammtor. If someone from your team gives a talk or joins a panel there, we plan the walk between hall and auditorium as a fixed time slot and are back on your stand in good time.
HMC's general terms of participation are generous on one point: photography and filming inside the venue are generally permitted. Two limits matter for exhibitors. Other exhibitors' stands and exhibits may only be recorded with their consent. And for commercial photography, film and video, the terms require HMC's prior consent.
A commissioned photographer on your stand is a commercial production. We therefore clear that consent with you before the show, so nobody has to ask questions at the entrance or on the stand on day one. The special terms of participation of your show also apply and can contain their own rules on recording. We go through them with you.
HMC also has the show recorded itself and makes visitors aware of this with notices on site. That does not change how we work: we keep the camera on your stand area, do not target neighbouring stands and ask recognisable visitors before they become the subject of an image. All image and sound recordings respect the personality rights of the people involved and the house rights of HMC and the exhibitors. We do not fly drones in the halls.
If individual photos are going to run in adverts later, we agree in advance which people may be recognisable and whose written consent should be on file. We record interviews with lavalier microphones in the quietest corner of your stand, so neither the aisle nor the neighbouring stand dominates the frame and the sound stays clear despite hall noise.
The shows in Hamburg are very different, and each one needs different pictures. At INTERNORGA in March it is all about food service and hospitality: dishes, drinks, kitchen technology. Light that looks appetising matters here, and so does movement in video: plating, pouring, tasting. Nordstil in January shows home, gift and fashion products for retail. Buyers look at materials and presentation, so we work close to the product.
In April, Aircraft Interiors Expo and WTCE run in the same week. Cabin seats, mock-ups and onboard service need careful light and steady camera moves that show how a seat or a trolley works in daily use. Because both shows run in parallel, their exhibitors share the travel. October works the same way with the Hydrogen Technology World Expo and the Carbon Capture Technology World Expo: plant, components and technical conversations, which we record as interviews with lavalier microphones.
OMR Festival in May is not a classic trade show: a stage programme, big crowds, brands posting in real time. There we deliver vertical clips and a first photo selection on the same day. GET Nord in November for the electrical, plumbing and heating trades and Seatrade Europe in September 2027 complete the Hamburg calendar.
A show day in Hamburg starts for us before opening with a stand overview, team photo and product details. From late morning come conversations, demos and, at INTERNORGA, tastings, and in a quieter phase interviews. If you book only two hours, we recommend the block around opening: it covers the tidy stand and the first visitors. In the evening the first selection goes to you.
Many exhibitors in Hamburg fly in from abroad, from China, the Gulf, Turkey, Italy, Spain, the UK or the US. Quote, briefing and delivery run in English or German, interviews also in Arabic or Farsi. Companies outside the EU are invoiced without German VAT, EU companies with a VAT ID receive a reverse-charge invoice. Travel from Essen is quoted once per trip and shared between all exhibitors of the same show week, and the edited photos are ready before your flight home.
