productronica is the world's leading trade fair for electronics development and production: in 2025 it drew more than 1,600 exhibitors from 52 countries and over 47,000 visitors from 98 countries, with 58 percent of exhibitors from abroad. It runs every two years alongside SEMICON Europa. On show are pick-and-place machines, soldering systems, inspection systems, cable processing and cleanroom technology — machines that run behind glass and place components smaller than a grain of rice. An SMT line at productronica runs in front of an audience: printer, placement machine, reflow oven, inspection, in sequence, under glass or acrylic covers. The covers mirror the stand lighting, and the interior — placement head, feeders, circuit board — lies in shadow. We photograph with a polarising filter from angles in which the lights do not sit in the cover and expose interior and housing separately so the head over the board becomes visible. The line as a whole is captured with wide-angle and shift correction so the modules stand straight.
The result of your machine is a populated circuit board with components a millimetre across, solder joints and markings. We bring a macro rig with our own light and photograph solder joints, component placement and stencil print so your application engineer can judge the quality in the picture. Images that can sit next to the data sheet.
A placement head setting components is a smear in a photograph. On video at a high frame rate the movement becomes legible — pick, centre, place, return — and with slow motion the speed you quote on the data sheet becomes tangible. We film lines from a tripod in overall view and with a second perspective through the cover, plus soldering systems in operation, cable processing and inspection with screen. From this we cut a 30-second highlight of the stand and individual process clips.
productronica is international: 58 percent of exhibitors come from abroad, visitors from 98 countries. We conduct interviews with your application engineers, product managers and customers in English or German with radio mics against the noise of the equipment and subtitles in both languages; briefing and the whole engagement run in English if your team travels in from abroad.
Tuesday to Thursday are the strongest days; Friday is quieter and suits shots of the line without onlookers and macro work that takes time. We recommend a four-hour package on Tuesday or Wednesday: the hour before opening for line and stand architecture, then running machines, conversations and interviews. For large stands with several lines the full show day makes sense.
productronica is held only every two years. The material from November 2027 carries you to the next edition in 2029 — and because we take on no more than four exhibitors per show day, the Tuesday and Wednesday windows go early.
