Koelnmesse lies in Deutz, on the right bank of the Rhine, facing the cathedral. Many recaps we cut here open with exactly that view: cathedral and river from the fairground side, two seconds long, and everyone knows where the film was made. We shoot it early in the morning on the way from Köln Messe/Deutz station to the entrance, so it costs you no time on the stand.
The halls are numbered 1 to 11, and several have two or three levels, so hall 10.2 is a floor, not a separate building. Tell us hall, level and stand number and we plan the walk and the lifts with tripod and lights in advance. The covered Boulevard linking the halls has daylight and works for interviews when your stand is too loud. Inside the halls the light is artificial and even.
Koelnmesse mixes public, trade and conference formats, and each needs a different film. At gamescom in August and FIBO in April the halls are loud and full, and stands work with LED walls and music. Clean stand shots only happen before the doors open. After that the film is about energy: queues, reactions, players, the stage. We set shutter and frame rate to the LED walls so nothing flickers, and we shoot a lot of vertical, because this audience lives on TikTok and Instagram.
The interior shows are the opposite: ORGATEC in October 2026, imm cologne in January and interzum in May 2027. Here slow gimbal moves, surfaces, fabrics and fittings in motion carry the film, and a short interview with the designer or product manager explains what you see. At ISM, Anuga FoodTec and Anuga the story is tasting and production; at IDS in March it is demonstrations at close range.
dmexco in September is mostly stage and conversation, in front of an audience that produces content itself. Talks on your stand or in your own session are recorded with two to four cameras and sound from the mixing desk, delivered as a full recording plus one cut per speaker. For the organiser's stages we clear permission in advance.
Cologne is about an hour from our office in Essen, and travel is part of every package. At public shows we start deliberately early, an hour before the doors open, and place interviews in the quieter last hours of the day. For trade shows a block around opening time is often enough.
Footage goes to our editing team during the day. Recap and vertical clips are with you within 24 hours, first clips usually the same evening. If you host a customer reception or a stand party on a show evening, we build it into the filming day.
