For Messe Frankfurt, choose a trade fair photographer who knows the multi-level halls and plans the day around them, delivers photos and video within 24 hours and quotes a fixed price with travel shown clearly. Unlimited usage rights, an English-speaking crew and experience with photo bans at design and consumer goods shows belong on the list as well.
Because so many exhibitors fly into Frankfurt, delivery time is often the deciding factor here: the images should be ready before your team leaves for the airport.
Use this to make quotes comparable. Ask for written answers in the quote.
| Criterion | Why it matters | What to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Halls and levels | Several halls have three or four levels. A stand (booth) on the ground floor and a meeting on the top level are further apart than the hall number suggests. | "Do you plan the day by hall, level and entrance?" |
| Delivery before your flight | If you leave on the last afternoon, you need day-one images before that. | "Will the day-one images be ready before we leave?" |
| Travel in the quote | Crews from other cities add travel, and it belongs in the quote. | "Is travel shown separately, and is it shared with other exhibitors?" |
| Photo bans | Posted photo bans, especially on stands, must be respected. | "How do you keep other products and stands with a photo ban out of the frame?" |
| Fixed price | Hourly rates plus editing and video are hard to compare. | "What exactly is included in the price?" |
| Usage rights | At Ambiente or Heimtextil the images feed catalogues and online shops. | "Can we use the images for advertising and give them to distributors?" |
| Language and invoicing | Many exhibitors come from China, the Gulf, Turkey or the US. | "Is the brief in English, and can we get an invoice without German VAT?" |
| Several stands | Ambiente, Christmasworld and Creativeworld run in parallel. | "Can you cover several stands in one day with fixed time slots?" |
According to Messe Frankfurt, around 400,000 square metres of event space are spread over ten halls, plus the Festhalle, Congress Center, Forum and Kap Europa. Halls 9 and 10 each have four levels, Hall 4 has three, and the Via Mobile moving walkway links the halls. On the calendar are Formnext (17–20 November 2026), Heimtextil (12–15 January 2027), Ambiente (29 January – 2 February 2027) and ISH (15–19 March 2027).
Messe Frankfurt's house rules (June 2025) require recordings to respect personality, trademark and design rights as well as the house rights of the venue, the organiser and exhibitors. Posted photo bans, especially on stands, must be observed, and organisers may add their own rules. At shows like Ambiente or Heimtextil this means framing aisle shots so other exhibitors' products stay out, and reading the exhibitor manual beforehand.
According to the venue, the airport is about 15 minutes away by car or taxi. S-Bahn lines S3, S4, S5 and S6 stop at Frankfurt (Main) Messe station, the U4 at Festhalle/Messe. If you drive, park at Parkhaus Rebstock and take the shuttle when it runs. More on halls and entrances is on our Messe Frankfurt venue page.
For Frankfurt, many exhibitors collect quotes from local photographers and from crews who travel in. Local freelancers often bill by the hour, with editing, video and extended rights added depending on the quote; travelling crews add the trip. What matters is that everything is in the quote, so you compare totals rather than hourly rates.
Pixer uses three fixed prices: €990 for two hours, €1,490 for four hours and €1,990 for a full show day, each plus VAT. We quote travel from Essen once per trip, and exhibitors in the same show week share it. Since the trip happens anyway, a full day often makes most sense in Frankfurt. Companies outside the EU are invoiced without German VAT. Check your total budget with the trade fair budget calculator.
