Food photography at a trade fair has a problem: the product has been under warm hall lighting for hours, the tasting platter is half empty, and the chilled counter reflects. We work with our own daylight-balanced light that keeps the colours of fruit, meat and cheese true, with a polarising filter against reflections on glass, film and chilled cabinets, and we briefly re-plate the tasting for the shot — fresh platter, clean cloth, the product in front. For packaging we set up a small product station on the stand: neutral background, the same perspective for every variety, catalogue-ready.
Beverages get backlight that shows liquid and carbonation; bread and chocolate are photographed close up so crust and break are legible.
Anuga is a show for touching and tasting. Tastings, live cooking and product demonstrations are moments for video: we film from two positions, capture visitor reactions and cut a 30-second highlight your sales team sends to buyers who were not in Cologne. Cooking shows on your stand are recorded in full on request with audio from the mixing desk.
Then there are the conversations with buyers from retail, wholesale and food service — they are the reason for the stand. We photograph them without flash and from a distance and conduct short interviews with a radio mic in English or German: two sentences on the product, one from a customer, delivered with subtitles.
Anuga opens on a Saturday. The first two days are in our experience the fullest because many international buyers plan their trip around the weekend. For stand overviews and product shots we use the hour before opening on Saturday or Sunday; tastings and conversations follow during the day. Monday and Tuesday stay strong, Wednesday is quieter and suits team portraits and detail shots.
Nine out of ten exhibitors come from abroad. Briefing, engagement and interviews run in English; we invoice as a German GmbH with VAT ID, without German VAT for companies outside the EU. Because Anuga only takes place every two years, plan the material for two years of sales work.
