The fairground sits in Stockum in the north of Düsseldorf, between the Rhine, the A44 motorway and the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA. Messe Düsseldorf lists 17 halls: 1, 3 to 7, 7a, 8a, 8b and 10 to 17. Sizes vary a lot, according to the venue from around 3,900 m² in Hall 7 to around 25,300 m² in Hall 6 including its gallery. For a shoot this matters: a stand in a small hall is reached in minutes, while a second appointment at the far end of the grounds needs time in the plan.
You enter through the North entrance with its sections A+B, C and D, through the South entrance next to the Congress Center Düsseldorf, or through the East entrance. A North-East entrance serves shuttle buses and is not open for every event. Which entrance is closest to your hall depends on how your show uses the grounds; we check the hall plan and set the meeting point and route from there.
Hall light is artificial and differs from hall to hall and from stand to stand. We bring our own light, check colour temperature and brightness on your stand before the first frame and balance mixed light from LED walls and spotlights in the edit. For portraits and interviews we look for a quiet corner of your stand where background and sound work together.
From the Hauptbahnhof, the U78 runs to the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA/Messe Nord stop, with the U81 added on selected event days. The Messe Ost/Stockumer Kirchstraße stop is served by the U78, U79, U80 and bus 722. Düsseldorf Airport is about three kilometres away; on event days the U81 takes around seven minutes from the terminal to the North entrance, which makes Düsseldorf easy for exhibitors flying in the morning of set-up. By car, exit Messe/Arena on the A44 leads to car parks P1 and P2, which take cashless payment only. We drive in from Essen and are on your stand before the doors open; travel is included in every package.
The Messe Düsseldorf house rules allow photography and filming on the grounds and in the halls, provided the law is respected, including GDPR and personality rights. Visitors must not be disturbed and escape routes stay clear. Each exhibitor may declare a marked photo and filming ban for its own stand, and we keep neighbouring stands that show such a sign out of frame. Drones and other flying objects are only allowed on the grounds with special permission.
One detail matters for shoots before or after opening hours: filming or photographing your own stand outside the event hours needs a special permit. The security control centre next to Gate 2 issues it on presentation of an ID card and a written order from the stand holder; it is valid for one day up to a set time, at the latest midnight, and there is a fee. If you want your empty stand shot in the evening, we prepare the written order and you only sign it. During the show everyone on the grounds needs a pass or ticket, so please plan two or three exhibitor passes for our crew.
The best moment for clean stand shots is before the doors open: carpet vacuumed, exhibits aligned, no visitors in the aisle. In that half hour we shoot overviews from several angles, product and graphic details and the team photo. Once the halls open we switch to conversations, demonstrations and visitors on your stand (booth), always working so that your sales talks carry on.
Each big Düsseldorf show asks for something different. At MEDICA the focus is on devices that need explaining, so we show hands on the device and screens rather than wide shots, and patient scenes only with consent. At boot the boats and yachts are the stars; that means wide lenses and raised viewpoints. ProWein runs on tastings at many compact stands: close portraits, glasses, labels. At glasstec glass and machinery reflect everything, so we work with a polarising filter and soft light.
Interviews are recorded in a quiet corner of your stand with a lavalier microphone and our own light, ideally late morning or early afternoon when the aisles calm down for a moment. Our editors cut the 30-second highlight video and the vertical clips in parallel, so you can post while the show is still running.
The Düsseldorf season opens in autumn with ALUMINIUM and glasstec in October. MEDICA and COMPAMED follow in November, for many medical technology exhibitors from abroad the most important week of the year, and Valve World Expo in December. boot comes in January, EuroCIS in February and ProWein in March. BEAUTY DÜSSELDORF and TOP HAIR fill the halls in April, the foundry and metallurgy week with GIFA, METEC, THERMPROCESS and NEWCAST follows in June 2027. CARAVAN SALON runs at the end of August and A+A in October 2027.
Many of these shows are not annual. The images from one edition then have to last until the next, for the website, catalogues, distributor decks and LinkedIn. That is where the Full Day package with interviews and the 90-second film pays off. For the big weeks we suggest asking four to six weeks ahead; outside peak times a few days are often enough.
For exhibitors from outside the EU the invoice comes without German VAT, and EU companies with a VAT ID receive a reverse-charge invoice. Because Düsseldorf is in North Rhine-Westphalia there is no travel line either, which makes multi-day coverage easy to split: a full first day for stand, team and film, then shorter blocks for talks, award ceremonies or key visitors.
Overviews, architecture and product details, shot before opening while the stand is still empty.
Real consultations and demos during the show day, without interrupting your team.
