RECYCLING-TECHNIK Dortmund is the trade fair for recycling and circular economy technology: shredding, sorting, screening, baling, sensors and plant engineering for plastics, metals, e-waste, construction waste, wood, glass and textiles. Together with SOLIDS most recently around 370 exhibitors and over 5,000 trade visitors. We photograph machines built for the yard so they work as a whole in the hall — and film them in operation.

A shredder, a baler or an eddy current separator is built for the recycling yard: heavy, painted in signal colours, with hoppers, rotors and screens that are barely visible from outside. On the trade fair stand the machine often sits tightly between neighbours, and the hall lighting turns the paint into a reflective surface. We photograph with a wide angle from a raised position so size and proportion are right, with a polarising filter against reflections on paint and stainless steel, and with our own light into the openings — rotor, knives, screen basket, magnetic drum — so the technology that makes the difference becomes visible.
Sensor-based sorting technology is the counterpart: cameras, near-infrared sensors, air jets, screens showing detection rates. We capture displays without moiré and put the application engineer in front of them to explain what the plant recognises.
Many exhibitors run their machines on the stand — with plastic flakes, cables or wood offcuts. That is the moment for video: material flow, rotor movement, the sorting process with ejection. We film from a fixed position and add close-ups of the wear parts. These clips replace the long explanation in the sales conversation: your sales team shows them on a tablet, your marketing uses them on the product page.
On the stand it comes down to conversations with waste management companies and plant operators. We photograph them without flash and from a distance and conduct short interviews with a radio mic — your engineer on the solution, an operator on throughput, two sentences, with subtitles, in German or English. If you speak in the stage programme, you get talk and audience from several positions.
RECYCLING-TECHNIK shares halls 4 to 7 and both days with SOLIDS; exhibitors with stands at both shows are covered on the same day without surcharge. Wednesday is the stronger day: stand overviews and machine shots in the hour before opening, then conversations, running plant on video and interviews. On Thursday two to four hours are enough for team portraits and late appointments.
From our office in Essen it is 35 minutes to Dortmund. Highlight video and first images are delivered on Wednesday evening; the full selection follows within 24 hours so your sales team can follow up with the material in the same week.
Heavy machines with wide angle from a raised position, polarising filter against paint reflections, our own light into rotor and screen basket.
Cameras, NIR sensors and detection screens without moiré, with the engineer in front explaining the plant.
Material flow, rotor movement and sorting process on video from a fixed position — for tablet, product page and social media.
Architecture and lighting before the doors open, with no visitors in frame.
Statements from engineers and plant operators with radio mics, in German or English, with subtitles.
