A stand concept describes how an exhibition stand is built, designed and used so that it meets the trade fair objectives. It combines architecture, zones, message, lighting, technology and how the stand staff work.
A stand concept is more than a design. It defines the message the stand (booth) conveys, how visitors move, where products are presented, where conversations take place and how the team works. The design follows from these decisions, not the other way round.
Typical components are a clear core message, zoning into open and quiet areas, a lighting and media concept, the placement of logo and exhibits, and procedures for demonstrations or stage programmes. The concept is usually developed together with an agency or a stand builder.
A good stand concept starts with the objectives. A stand meant to generate leads needs open access and points of contact. A stand for customer care needs private areas. A stand for new products needs a stage or a clear centrepiece.
Pay attention to sightlines. Visitors decide within seconds, while walking past, whether to stop. What is visible from the aisle must get your offer across. Too much text and too many exhibits dilute the message.
Think about the camera from the start. From where does the stand look best? Are faces in the right light? Is the logo still recognisable on a phone screen in portrait format? Such questions cost little in planning and determine the quality of every image that follows.
Plan storage too, so the stand stays tidy all day.
On the show day we see immediately whether a stand concept works for the camera. If sightlines, light and zones are well thought out, strong images come with little effort. If not, we work with crops and angles that make the most of it.
For new stands we are happy to advise during planning on which angles will matter later. The guide Stand design and the camera explains what counts from the lens's point of view. If you send us drafts or renderings in advance, we plan angles and timing before we travel. That leaves more time on the show day for conversations, details and scenes with your team.
Usually the exhibitor together with an agency or stand builder. It is important that marketing, sales and stand staff contribute their requirements early.
It helps. A short exchange clarifies which angles, lighting situations and subjects will matter later, while the concept can still be changed.
