Messe Friedrichshafen lies on the northern shore of Lake Constance, in immediate proximity to Friedrichshafen Airport and between Lindau, Ravensburg and Konstanz. The grounds consist of two rows of halls: the A halls, A1 to A7, and the B halls, connected through Foyer West, Foyer East and the East Passage.
The largest hall is A1, the ZEPPELIN CAT Halle. According to the venue it measures 67 by 149.5 metres, has its own entrance and ticket area, and is used for events and concerts as well as trade fairs. For a shoot, a hall this size means that overviews of your stand need a clear position and the right focal length, so the stand does not get lost in the space.
The shows in Friedrichshafen are strongly technical. At Fakuma injection moulding machines and automation cells run on the stands; at AERO aircraft and equipment for general aviation take centre stage. Both depend on movement, detail and scale: we combine wide shots for size with macro shots of components and short video sequences that show how something works.
Both shows are international, and many exhibitors travel in from abroad. For them we deliver interviews with subtitles in English, German, Arabic or Farsi, and the edited photos are ready before the flight home. Because Friedrichshafen is smaller than the big exhibition cities, we book the crew's accommodation early and include the travel share in your fixed quote from the start.
During events, according to Messe Friedrichshafen, the MesseExpress bus, line 17, runs from Friedrichshafen Stadtbahnhof and Hafenbahnhof to the grounds free of charge. There is also an Airport Express, or alternatively city bus line 5, which is paid, or a taxi. For some shows the venue also offers transfers from airports in the region; the details are on your show's website.
For us Friedrichshafen is a trip that is easy to plan. We travel the day before and are at your stand before opening. Our kit is compact: two camera bodies, lenses, a gimbal, lavalier microphones and LED lights fit into rolling cases, so no delivery is needed. We set the meeting point according to your hall, usually on the stand itself.
Travel from Essen is quoted once per trip and shared between exhibitors of the same show week. The more exhibitors of one show book us, the smaller each share becomes. Companies from outside the EU are invoiced without German VAT, EU companies with a VAT ID receive a reverse-charge invoice.
We did not find general rules from Messe Friedrichshafen on photo and film work by commissioned photographers on the venue's website. The terms of participation and exhibitor manual of your show apply. Check there whether an external photographer needs registration, a pass or a permit; we are happy to help you read them and fill in the forms.
Regardless of that, we work to the same principles at every show: we photograph and film your stand and your exhibits, not other exhibitors' stands. We keep the aisles clear and work so visitors are not obstructed. We ask recognisable visitors before they become the subject of an image, and we do not fly drones in the halls.
Our crew enters on exhibitor passes you assign to us. If you want us to work before opening or on the build-up day, we check with you which access rules your show sets for that.
In the exhibitor manual it is worth checking four points: whether external service providers must be registered, which access times apply on the build-up day, whether recordings in forums and on stages have their own rules, and whether music on the stand must be registered. With those answers we plan the day so there are no surprises on site.
Fakuma in October is the international trade fair for plastics processing. Many stands run machines live, and that is exactly what customers want to see: the cycle, the mould, the finished part. We record machines in operation on video, photograph components in detail and capture customer conversations on the stand.
AERO in April is the show for general aviation. Aircraft, avionics and equipment need images that show size and detail at once: the whole aircraft, the cockpit, the finish. Interviews with your distributors or pilots are recorded on the stand with lavalier microphones, so the sound stays clear despite the hall noise.
A typical day looks like this: before visitors are let in, stand overview, team photo and product details; from late morning, demos and conversations; in a quieter phase, interviews. In the evening the first selection goes to you, the rest follows within 24 hours. For a product launch on the stand we plan the reveal with a second camera position.
Overviews, graphics and exhibits before visitors arrive, also in large halls such as A1.
Injection moulding, automation and demos as video and burst sequences.
Aircraft and systems as a whole and in detail, from silhouette to cockpit.
Statements in English, German, Arabic or Farsi, with lavalier microphones and subtitles.
30 seconds in every package, plus a 90-second film with Full Day.
9:16 clips for Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn, delivered together with the photos.
