A peninsula stand is an exhibition stand at the head of a block of stands that is open to aisles on three sides. Only the back borders another stand or a wall.
A peninsula stand forms the end of a block of several stands. Three sides are open and the fourth backs onto another stand. That makes it visible and accessible from three directions. In American usage the term peninsula stand (booth) means the same layout.
Peninsula stands are often located on main aisles and are among the most prominent positions in a hall. Organisers therefore usually charge a higher price per square metre than for row or corner stands. The exact terms and building rules, for example on the height of the back wall, are in the exhibitor manual.
A peninsula stand offers a strong presence, but it needs a well-thought-out concept. With three open sides there is no single front, so the stand has to work from every side. The closed back wall becomes the most important brand surface and can often be seen from far away.
Consider the directions most visitors come from, for example the hall entrance or a main aisle. That is where eye-catchers and the logo belong. Conversation areas work better slightly set back, so that customers do not stand in the middle of the passing crowd.
Plan enough staff. An open stand attracts more passing visitors, and unattended sides quickly look deserted, in person and in photos. Storage should be placed where it cannot be seen from any open side.
We photograph peninsula stands from several sides. The strongest overview usually comes from slightly off-centre at the front, with the back wall as the background and both sides in perspective. Before the doors open this is possible without visitors in the frame.
During the show we present the stand as a lively place: conversations in different spots, visitors arriving from several aisles, products in the foreground. For video, a slow move around the stand works well. The guide Stand photos without visitors explains how to use the quiet time for clean shots.
A peninsula stand has three open sides and a back wall. An island stand is open on all four sides and stands free between aisles.
A little more than a row stand, because we show it from several directions. We plan the overviews before opening and the rest during the show.
Send us the fair, hall and stand number. We plan the shoot around your stand and deliver photos and videos within 24 hours after the show ends.
