Post-show follow-up: what happens after the last show day

Post-show follow-up covers all tasks after a trade fair: following up leads, publishing material, evaluating results and recording lessons for the next show. It decides whether conversations on the stand actually turn into business.

Definition

Post-show follow-up actually begins on the stand, with proper lead capture. After the show come follow-up emails and calls, sending promised documents and quotes, posts on social media and your website, the internal evaluation and archiving photos, videos and notes.

The most important factor is time. The sooner you get in touch, the better your contacts remember you and your stand (booth). Many companies therefore plan follow-up before the show and decide who handles which contacts by when. Put this plan in writing and share it with the team.

What it means for exhibitors

After a show you compete with many other exhibitors in your contacts' inboxes. A personal message that refers to the conversation stands out. A photo of the stand or of the conversation itself can help jog memories.

Publish your show material while the topic is current. The days during and immediately after the show are when posts about the fair get the most attention. After that you keep using the material in newsletters, presentations and on your website.

Evaluate the show honestly. Which objectives were met? Which conversations were valuable? What worked well on the stand and what did not? These notes are the best basis for your next participation.

Involve the stand staff who held the conversations. Share the results with everyone involved.

In practice

So that you can start right after the show, we deliver all photos and videos within 24 hours after it ends, with first photos usually on the same day. You have the material to hand when the follow-up emails go out and the first posts appear.

The guide Trade fair follow-up sets out a structured process for the days after. The guide on publishing show content within 24 hours explains how to post during the show. On request we also edit vertical clips that you can use directly on social media and in personal messages to your contacts.
