A special show is a separate exhibition area within a fair that highlights a particular topic. Organisers, associations or institutes present solutions from several companies there together.
Special shows usually focus on future topics, innovations or cross-cutting themes of an industry, such as sustainability, digitalisation, start-ups or young talent. They often include demonstrations, guided tours and a stage of their own. The area is designed by the organiser or by partners. It is marked on the hall plan and is usually located in one of the halls, sometimes in a foyer or the outdoor area.
Companies can often take part with products, exhibits or expertise, sometimes free of charge, sometimes for a fee or as a partner. The conditions are set by whoever organises the special show.
Taking part in a special show brings visibility beyond your own stand. Your product is placed in a thematic context that visitors and press seek out specifically. That is particularly interesting for new products and for companies with a small stand (booth).
Keep in mind that you are not alone in a special show. The organiser decides on design, labelling and opening times of the area. Point to your own stand at the exhibit, so that interested visitors can find you. Clarify who sets up and removes the exhibit, who insures it and who answers questions about it during the show.
Even without taking part, a special show matters, because it draws visitors into a particular hall. A stand nearby can benefit, and items from the special show's programme can be linked with your own activities.
If your product is part of a special show, we photograph it there as well as on your stand. Because the area is often busy, quiet times in the morning work best. We check with you in advance whether the special show's organiser needs to agree, and make sure that other companies' exhibits are not the focus. The pictures show your product in the fair's thematic setting, a good motif for LinkedIn and press material. You receive these shots together with the stand photos within 24 hours after the show ends.
The guide Other stands and products in the frame explains how to handle other companies' products in your pictures.
Information is available from the organiser or from the partner running the special show. There is often a call with a deadline and a selection of contributions.
Usually yes, ideally after agreeing it with whoever runs the area. Other exhibits should not be the focus.
